How it works

  1. Step 1

    Choose the format

JPG for anything that has to open everywhere, PNG when you need transparency or lossless quality, WebP when you want both at a smaller size.

  2. Step 2

    Add your images

Drop in one file or fifty. They are read straight off your disk into the page — no upload happens, and no account is asked for.

  3. Step 3

    Download

Save one converted file, or all of them together as a ZIP. No watermark, no limit on how many you convert.

Common conversions

PNG to JPG

The most common reason is size. A photo saved as PNG is often five to ten times larger than the same photo as JPG, because PNG never discards anything. Converting also solves upload forms that reject PNG. Remember that JPG has no transparency: anything see-through becomes white.

JPG to PNG

Useful when something downstream demands a PNG — some print services, some app icon pipelines, some document templates. Be aware that this does not restore quality. The detail a JPG threw away is gone, and wrapping it in a lossless format only makes the file bigger.

WebP to JPG

WebP is excellent on the web and awkward everywhere else. Older versions of Photoshop, plenty of print shops and a surprising number of upload forms still reject it. Converting to JPG is usually the fastest way out of that.

AVIF to JPG

AVIF compresses better than anything else in common use, which is exactly why the file you downloaded will not open in older software. If your browser can display an AVIF, this tool can convert it.

JPG and PNG to WebP

The conversion worth making if you run a website. WebP is typically 25 to 35% smaller than JPG at the same visible quality, and far smaller than PNG, while keeping transparency. Every current browser supports it.

WebP to PNG

The right choice when the image has transparency you need to keep — a logo, a cut-out, a sticker. Going to JPG would fill those areas with white.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from CloudConvert or Convertio?
Those convert between hundreds of formats, including video and documents, and this handles JPG, PNG and WebP only. The difference that matters is where it happens: they receive your file on a server, and here it never leaves your device. Compared to CloudConvert and Convertio
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion uses the image encoders already built into your browser and runs on your own device. Nothing is transmitted, so there is no upload to wait for and no copy of your file anywhere else. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
Is it free, and is there a limit on how many images?
It is free, with no account, no watermark and no cap on how many images you convert or how often. Because the work happens on your device rather than on a server we pay for, each conversion costs us nothing, which is why there is nothing to meter.
How do I convert a PNG to a JPG?
Choose JPG at the top of this page, drop your PNG in, and press Convert. One caution: JPG cannot store transparency, so any transparent area will be filled with white. If your image has a see-through background and you want to keep it, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
Will converting reduce the quality of my image?
It depends on the direction. Converting to PNG is lossless and changes nothing visually. Converting to JPG or WebP re-encodes the image and discards some information, though at the quality this tool uses the difference is very hard to see. Converting a JPG to PNG does not restore anything that was already lost — it only makes the file larger.
Which format should I choose?
JPG when the file has to open anywhere and has no transparency. PNG when you need transparency or lossless quality, such as a logo or a screenshot with text. WebP when the image is for a website: it is smaller than both and keeps transparency, and every current browser supports it.
Can I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone?
Only in Safari. HEIC is the format iPhones use by default, and no browser except Safari can decode it — that is a limitation of the browser, not of this tool. Two ways around it: open this page in Safari on the iPhone itself, or on the phone go to Settings, Camera, Formats and choose "Most Compatible", which makes the camera save JPG from then on.
Why did my transparent background turn white?
Because you converted to JPG, which has no alpha channel and therefore cannot store transparency at all. Left alone, transparent pixels encode as black, so the tool fills them with white instead. To keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP.
Why did my file get bigger after converting?
Almost always because you converted to PNG. PNG is lossless, so it stores every pixel exactly, and a photograph stored that way is far larger than the same photograph as JPG. It is the expected result, not a fault — but if size matters, convert to WebP instead.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Add as many as you want, convert them in one pass, and download them together as a ZIP. They are processed one after another rather than simultaneously, because decoding several large photos at the same time can exhaust the memory a browser tab is allowed, especially on a phone.
Does converting remove EXIF and GPS data?
Yes. The image is decoded to raw pixels and re-encoded, so the metadata does not survive — the camera model, the timestamp and the GPS coordinates all go. The orientation is the one thing preserved, applied to the pixels themselves so portrait photos do not come out sideways.
Can I convert to SVG, PDF, GIF or ICO?
No. This tool converts between JPG, PNG and WebP, which is what the browser can encode on its own. SVG in particular is not a conversion at all: it describes shapes rather than pixels, and turning a photograph into one produces a file that merely has a photograph embedded inside it.
Is there a maximum file size?
30 MB per image. The limit exists because everything happens inside your browser tab, which has far less memory available than your computer as a whole.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in a current version of Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox. You can pick images straight from your gallery, and the converted file saves to your downloads like any other.
