Your images never leave your device
Almost every background remover on the internet works the same way: you pick a file, your browser uploads it to a company's server, a machine there processes it, and you download the result. Your photo sits on someone else's hard drive, covered by a privacy policy you did not read, for a length of time you cannot verify.
This tool does not work that way. When you choose an image, nothing is sent anywhere. Instead, your browser downloads the AI model — a 4.4 MB file — and runs it on your own processor. The photo is read from your disk into the memory of the page, the model works out which pixels are the subject, and the result is drawn back onto a canvas in front of you. Every one of those steps happens on the machine you are sitting at.
There is a simple way to prove it. Load this page, choose an image so the model downloads, then turn off your wi-fi and remove another background. It still works, because there is nothing on the other end to talk to. You can also open your browser's network panel and watch: after the model loads, no request carries your image anywhere.
That design has consequences we are honest about. The first run is slower, because the model has to be downloaded before anything can happen. The model is small enough to run comfortably on a phone, which means it is not the largest, most accurate model in existence — a server farm can run something better. We think a good result you can fix by hand, on a photo nobody else ever sees, is the better trade.
There are no accounts here, so there is nothing to leak. There is no upload endpoint, so there is nothing to breach. The images we could hand over if someone demanded them amount to none, because we never had them.

- Is it really free?
- Yes. There is no account, no credit limit, no watermark and no paywall on the download. The site is paid for by ads and affiliate links, and there is an optional one-time payment to hide the ads.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser and runs on your own device. Your image is never sent anywhere — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool still works.
- Do I need to create an account?
- No. There is nothing to sign up for and no email to hand over.
- Is there a watermark on the result?
- No. The PNG you download is the full result at working resolution, with a real transparent background and nothing stamped on it.
- Why does it take a few seconds the first time?
- The first time you use the tool your browser downloads the AI model and the runtime that executes it. That happens once and is then cached, so every later image is much faster. This is the cost of doing the work on your device instead of on a server.
- What image formats can I use?
- JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF, up to 30 MB. The result is always a PNG, because PNG is the common format that supports transparency. HEIC photos from iPhones cannot be opened by browsers — export them as JPG first.
- The AI left part of the background, or removed part of my subject. Can I fix it?
- Yes, that is what the Erase and Restore brushes are for. Erase rubs out background the model kept; Restore paints your subject back where the model cut too far. Both work at any zoom level and are included in the downloaded file.
- What kind of images work best?
- A clear subject that stands out from its background — a person, a product, an animal. It struggles when the subject is the same colour as what is behind it, when the edges are very soft, and with fine detail like loose strands of hair or fur. The brushes exist for exactly those cases.
- Does it work on my phone?
- Yes, in any current mobile browser. Very large photos are scaled down before processing so the tab does not run out of memory, so the result on a phone may be smaller than the original.
- Can I use the results commercially?
- As far as this tool is concerned, yes — we claim no rights over anything you process, and we never see it. Whether you hold the rights to the image itself is between you and whoever took it.
- Which browsers are supported?
- Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on desktop and mobile. The tool needs WebAssembly; if your browser cannot run it, the page says so instead of failing silently.
- What happens to my image after I close the tab?
- Nothing, because nothing was stored. The image only ever existed in the memory of that page. The one thing kept on your device is the AI model itself, cached so the next visit is fast.
